The Santa Clarita City Council heard from Southern California Edison on its wildfire mitigation plan, as well as acknowledged German-American and Hispanic Heritage Month.
At the regular meeting on Tuesday, SoCal Edison representatives presented to the city council an update on its wildfire mitigation plan for grid-hardening.
“We recognize how important it is to have safe and reliable utility services,” said a SoCal Edison representative.
SoCal Edison planned on hardening the grids of seven circuits in 2022, and according to the update shared at the meeting, that project is 95 percent done.
The grid hardening project is aimed to help keep power circuits safe during extreme weather and wildfire season, keeping the lights on for hundreds who rely on SoCal Edison.
The council also recognized September as both German-American and Hispanic Heritage month.
Hispanic Heritage month runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, and recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of those who are of Hispanic descent.

The word council is singular. Which of the following sentences is correct? A), The City Council awards several recognitions. Or B), The City Council award several recognitions. The correct answer is A. Or it would be, if the headline weren’t quite so awkward. Recast it thus: City Council Hears SoCal Edison Update, Recognizes September For Hispanic and German Heritage. Please put $5 in the typo jar ($1 for body copy typos and $5 for headline typos.) Or have your editor do it — if you have one.
