City Council To Consider No-Confidence Vote For D.A. Gascón

The Santa Clarita City Council is set to consider taking a vote of no confidence for Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, as several City officials believe that his actions since being sworn “risk safety of the general public.”

The council is scheduled to discuss a vote of no confidence for the new district attorney during their regular meeting Tuesday.

“The City of Santa Clarita, California, values and places the highest priority on public safety and protecting its community,” the proposed no-confidence vote reads. “(The City) emphasizes supporting public safety policies to prevent and reduce criminal activity in its adopted 2021 Executive and Legislative Platform.”

During their previous meeting on Feb. 23, the city council requested that time be set aside to discuss the nine special directives Gascón issued within his first hours in office.

The next day, officials presented the special directives to the City Council Public Safety Committee, identifying three that they said could have “a potential immediate and detrimental impact to public safety,” which are:

  • Special Directive 20-06, which essentially eliminates cash bail within L.A. County for “any misdemeanor, non-serious felony, or non-violent felony offense.”
  • Special Directive 20-07, which directs prosecutors to decline or dismiss a series of misdemeanor charges, including trespassing, drug possession, and resisting arrest
  • Special Directive 20-08, which originally eliminated sentencing enhancements for most charges. It has since been amended to allow for such enhancements for serious charges such as child abuse, sex trafficking, and hate crimes

“The District Attorney’s Office has a legal and ethical responsibility to execute laws enacted by voters or the legislature that are intended to protect the public and uphold prosecutorial policies,” the agenda item for Tuesday’s meeting reads. “However, the Special Directives unilaterally issued by District Attorney Gascón undermine the legislative and ballot process and risk safety of the general public.”

Furthermore, City officials contend that Gascón’s directives “violate state law,” as many of the directives either undermine or conflict with previously passed legislation and ballot initiatives.

“It is of the utmost importance for the City of Santa Clarita, California, that policies that aim to restructure or amend prosecutorial directives are consistent with state law and issued with reasonable intent and priority to enhance public safety and protect the general public and victims’ rights,” the proposed no-confidence vote reads.

The full agenda for Tuesday’s meeting can be read here.

City Council To Consider No-Confidence Vote For D.A. Gascón

  1. Recall Newsom, Garrshity & Gas-Con!! They’re worthless Socialist/Marxist/Communist Demons bringing down decent society!!

  2. Guantanamo and Pelican bay were built for scumbags like this.

  3. Did you know that in the City of LA in the last 28 days there were 34 murders? Did you know that there were 56 rapes? That there were 781 robberies? That in the last THREE days 160 cars were stolen?

Of course not. The Mayor of LA and Chief of LAPD just lie and claim that crime is way down. And a complicit liberal media goes along with the lie and dutifully repeat it without any investigation.

Is this really the society in which we wish to live? Those 56 women (and more than a few children) will never forget their rape, never fully get over it, and they also have to live with the knowledge that in this lawless “criminals come first” society they could be raped again at any time.

781 people had a gun or other weapon shoved in their face and had to hand over their valuables while wondering if they were about to be murdered even if they did cooperate. And this was all just in the last four weeks.

I ask again, is this really how we want to live?

  4. Funny… “Consider No-Confidence vote…”
What’s to consider? If you have to consider a no-confidence vote, you should be replaced!

  5. It is time to secede from LA County to Ventura County where we are far more in alignment with law and order communities (Oxnard and Ventura excepted) that with LA. While I applaud this, it is a half-step measure at best and carries no teeth. We need real change for this city to maintain leadership in safety and to regain a semblance of the liveability we had 20 years ago.

  6. Another fraud election and Soros’ money helped. That’s how Gascon got elected. Nobody wanted him because they knew what would happen. Its so easy to overturn votes now. Like all of a sudden all of the Trump votes switched to Biden early in the morning. This country is in deep trouble!

  7. Consider ??
A vote of no confidence is a vote to protect your residents !!
Do the right thing city council ! Vote NO confidence or you’ll have voters Voting to replace you !

  8. Thanks TAP for sharing the truth/facts, no of course we haven’t been told the truth/facts by the deceitful, demonic Liberal media!——-except the pretentious moron showing off his extreme wealth by wearing a $500,000 watch in public! Hollywood is to busy pandering/shoving certain racial models in commercials/TV out of proportion to census %s to real society rather than focusing on real problems to help all of society.

  9. Please consider just how easy it is to become a victim-it can happen to anyone! For the sake of law abiding citizens and those of us who have become victims PLEASE when the petitions are available (in about a month-the process has been started) sign to RECALL Gascon. He only cares about the criminals and could care less about the victims and their loved oves, he is a Soros puppet paid for my him and a menace to all decent society. For information please look up the RECALL Gascon page on FB and read some of the victims stories and see what is really happening in our court rooms, parole hearings and to the real victims. A NO CONFIDENCE vote is a no brainer!

  10. Soros,Harris ,Pelosi,Sniff,Waters,Feinstein,Padilla,Newsom and Swalwell think this dirtbag is the answer these clowns have taken a wrecking ball to this deep blue state and it doesn’t even resonate with any of them.

  11. Thank you City Council.

  12. Oh, Oh, You can’t express freedom of speech or say anything because you’ll be screamed a Racist, Phob., Ist, etc. or you’ll be canceled by the Wokeholes Liberals—-shut up and stop speaking the truth/facts—you’re not in decent control!

  13. You to Bustos, They are doing me also, freedom of speech, not so much on the woke KHIT nowadays

  14. Please LA County registered voters, sign petition when released to recall this guy. He wasn’t happy ruining San Francisco, he’s brought his anti-victim sentiment to souther Calif. Lets give him the message Southern California is NOT Northern California. If he’s not removed, he’ll dismantle all the work victims and victim activists have worked so hard for over the last 40-50 years, then move on to dismantle other counties. Stop him now.
