The Santa Clarita City Council moved to extend the ban on development of new drive-thrus until January 2021 on Tuesday night.
During the regular City Council meeting, the public was invited to voice their concerns over safety regarding the development of new drive-thrus.
Jason Crawford, planning and economic development manager for the City, addressed the Council regarding the applications in effect for the new development for business with drive-thrus.
One such location, Chick-Fil-A, has withdrawn their application to enter the site of the former Boston Market location, according to Crawford.
“There are two Starbucks in the Canyon Country area, they have supplied the City with a queuing analysis of their drive-thru and reviewed by city staff,” Crawford said. “And found to meet the standards and those two Starbucks are able to move forward.”
Businesses are still able to submit applications for the development of new drive-thrus, and may be able to be approved pending approval by city staff, Crawford added.
Following Crawford’s comments on the matter, the Santa Clarita City Council moved to extend the ban until Jan. 14, 2021 with a unanimous vote.Do you have a news tip?
