Santa Clarita City Council Unanimously Votes On State Distribution Of Rental Assistance

In a regular meeting Tuesday, the Santa Clarita City Council voted to allow the State of California to distribute rental assistance funds, as well as awarded contracts of service to two companies.

During the meeting, the Santa Clarita City Council adopted a resolution to allow the State of California to distribute Emergency Rental Assistance 2 funds on behalf of the city.

The City of Santa Clarita received over $5 million in funding from Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) 2, which was established by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, representatives said.

The new program has come with new requirements that city representatives report are difficult to meet while also preventing fraud, leading the city to recommend that the state administer ERA 2 on behalf of the city, as the state will already be giving out funds from that program and has more resources available.

City officials have also awarded a three-year contract to CivicPlus, LLC so the City of Santa Clarita can continue to use the company’s recreation management system, which has been used by the city since 2013.

The contract is a three-year deal, approved along with two optional one-year renewals for an amount equal to or less than $179,069.

Another contract recommended to be approved is a one-year contract with two optional one-year renewals with GoGov Inc. for the use of a suite of applications related to the Resident Service Center, which the city has used since 2008, according to city documents.
