Additionally, former City Council candidate William Braun had previously filed an intent to run, but did not appear on Thursday’s memo of qualified candidates.
The two seats up for grabs in the 2020 election include current Santa Clarita Mayor Cameron Smyth’s seat, and Councilmember Bob Kellar’s seat. Kellar had previously announced that he would not run for re-election, and did not file paperwork to run in November.
The election is scheduled to take place on Nov. 3.

We need LEADERSHIP! Put the people you represent first. Sick and tired of cowards we elect into office.
I am somewhat concerned about this list. Santa Clarita is/has been one of the best cities in America. I’m concerned that this is a push for populism, and that the SCV will turn into the SFV.
You should be concerned! Reading what I could find on the candidates, doesn’t look good! An HR consultant and a Social Services director? Not one mention of law and order anywhere. Hello Portland!
