Candidates running for two seats on the Santa Clarita City Council in the upcoming 2020 election are scheduled to appear on KHTS Radio to share their thoughts and ideas on how they plan to serve the community.
Between Monday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 17, eight of the nine candidates running for the Santa Clarita City Council in 2020 are scheduled to be interviewed live on-air at KHTS Radio.
The interviews will be broadcast live on 98.1 FM and AM 1220, as well as the KHTS Radio Facebook page.
Candidates will be asked questions on a variety of topics, ranging from the city’s approach to the COVID-19 pandemic to the infrastructure of Santa Clarita.
The interview schedule is as follows:
Monday, 9/14
10:00 a.m.: Dr. Aakash Ahuja, certified psychiatrist
10:20 a.m.: Cameron Smyth, Santa Clarita mayor
Tuesday, 9/15
10:00 a.m.: Jason Gibbs, WiSH Foundation Board Member
10:20 a.m.: Douglas Fraser, Canyon Country Advisory Committee Director
10:40 a.m.: Selina Thomas, Owner of 6 Degrees HR Consulting
Wednesday, 9/16
10:40 a.m.: TimBen Boydston, Executive Director for the Canyon Theater Guild
Thursday, 9/17
10:00 a.m.: Kenneth Dean, Advocates of Santa Clarita member
10:20 a.m.: Christopher Werthe, Chief Safety Engineer for L.A. Department of Water and Power
10:40 a.m.: Kelvin Driscoll, Program Director for L.A. County Department of Social Services
While the interviews are set to last between 10-15 minutes, KHTS wants to give residents an opportunity to ask questions of their own to the candidates. Residents can email their questions to newstip@hometownstation.com with the subject line “KHTS Council Candidate Questions” for a chance to have their question asked live on-air.
