Tom Lackey Declares Victory In Race To Retain State Assembly Seat

Assemblyman Tom Lackey, R-Palmdale, declared victory Thursday in the race to retain his seat in California’s 36th Assembly District (AD-36).

On Thursday, Lackey issued a statement regarding the incoming results for the AD-36 election.

“I’m thrilled by the results of this election,” he said. “It’s clear that voters in the 36th Assembly district believe that I am the best person to represent the Antelope Valley in State Assembly. I’ll keep fighting in Sacramento to make sure residents receive the services they need, give the Antelope Valley a voice in government, and ensure government is working for the people.”

As of 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Lackey was ahead of Democratic challenger Steve Fox by just over 14,000 votes, holding 55% of the vote as opposed to Fox’s 45%.

“I’m focused on pursuing unemployment claims for residents who are out of work and struggling,” Lackey said in Thursday’s statement. “I promise to keep fighting for Gabriel’s law to create an online database to manage allegations of child abuse and to clear the backlog of over 14,000 rape kits in California.”
