Santa Clarita Politicians Secure $3 Million In Funding For Bridge To Home SCV

Senator Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, and Assemblymember Suzette Valladares, R-Santa Clarita, announced Friday that they have secured $3 million in funds for Bridge to Home SCV.

Senator Wilk and Assemblymember Valladares announced that they have secured $3 million in funding from the 2022-23 state budget to begin construction of the new Bridge to Home SCV Facility.

Bridge to Home is a local non-profit organization that helps families and individuals transition out of homelessness.

“This funding is a critical component of ensuring Bridge to Home can continue and expand its services to meet the needs of our growing homeless community,” said officials with Wilk and Valladares’s offices.

The process to get the required funding for Bridge to Home has taken time, and more work is required to combat the rising homelessness epidemic that is sweeping across the state, according to officials.

“I am so pleased that this year’s state budget will allocate millions of dollars to help in construction of a new facility that will further serve our community,” said Wilk.

In 2020, 552,830 Americans were reported to be homeless with 70 percent being male and 30 percent being women, according to Downtown Streets Team. In California, 113,952 people were reported to be homeless as of 2020.

“With these millions of dollars secured for Bridge to Home, those who are heartbreakingly in need can rest assured that these funds will be put to good use to give them a helping hand, ” said Valladares.

  1. Make sure they have extra room for tents and shopping carts. Barb wire fencing needs to be required, to prevent escapes.

    • Yep typical bleeding heart liberal politicians catering to these fine citizens. The libs can’t just let people be. How about pour some of that money into keeping us law abiding citizens safer.

  2. More taxpayer cash for the Homeless Industrial Complex…

Sympathy becomes a cause becomes a charity becomes a scam. Happens all of the time…

  3. “The libs can’t just let people be”? What do you suggest?

Do you want to offer your front porch to a homeless person?

    • No. We want the county to clean, screen and medicate them in a controlled environment. Voters funded homeless programs that blow the money without results. We need to gather and treat these hominids and stop them from destroying “public”. Tough love, keep them out of the washes, parks, and public lands.
