Santa Clarita Valley Republicans Show Support In Style At First Annual 38th Assembly District Liberty Gala Fundraiser

Santa Clarita Republicans gathered on Saturday to raise funds for local party candidates at the first annual 38th Assembly District Liberty Gala.

The Liberty Gala is a fundraiser to support Republican-endorsed candidates for elected office in the 38th Assembly District, which is represented by Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez-Valladares (R-Santa Clarita).

With over 250 guests in attendance, participants were able to hear from leading Conservative voices in the 38th Assembly District.

“For being an inaugural event, all the attendance, all the support, they all exceed our expectations and showed that the community was looking for a way to celebrate the successes that we have enjoyed and are looking to continue enjoying for years to come,’ said Jason Gibbs, Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem and event co-chair.

Organized alongside the Santa Clarita Valley Republicans, Gibbs and co-chair Sharlene Johnson arranged a line-up of local speakers, including Assemblywoman Valladares, Hart District Board Member Joe Messina and former City Councilmember Bob Kellar, as well as keynote speaker Evan Sayet, a comedian and Conservative speaker for events across the nation.

Title Sponsor Dr. Harleen Grewal, a local dentist and owner of both Skyline Smiles and Mind Body Infusion Medical Spa, shared an overview of her life story with the audience.

Born in India, Grewal was educated at an all-girl’s Catholic boarding school in the Himilayas for much of her childhood, and upon completing dental school, elected to travel to the United States to continue her studies at the University of Southern California (USC).

“Most of our lives and our communities have changed drastically since 2020, our mental physical and spiritual wellness has been constantly challenged and strained as we all have been forced to adapt to the new normal world that the pandemic and government intrusion into the health and well-being of our lives and the choices we make for our families was imposed on all of us,” Grewal said. “Even with these challenges, the American spirit will not allow our sense of liberty and freedom to be snuffed out.”

Grewal and her husband, a neurologist, opened both of their businesses in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a success she partially credits to the support of the local business community in our Santa Clarita Valley.

“These foundations are an essential part of who we are as Americans and draws our community closer together even as others seek to divide us, whether it be by race, creed, gender, faith or political choices,” Grewal said. “Liberty is defined as a state of being free and not imprisoned or enslaved by a people or a government, it is the power to do so as one pleases when it does not harm or infringe on the rights of others.”

  1. Government intrusion is mentioned in the article as something we don’t want. Agreed. Sounds good.
Overturning Roe vs. Wade definitely doesn’t fit with that philosophy.

  2. They had a Skanky piñata that looked like Alice. When they hit it slimy green worms came out: Donkey Pox larva!
