Wilk is seeking to replace Senator Sharon Runner in California’s 21st State Senate District, who announced Thursday she will not seek re-election.

The 21st Senate District emcompasses the Antelope Valley, Victor Valley and portions of the Santa Clarita Valley.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity for the 21st (Senate) District,” Wilk said. “I was born and raised in this district. It would be an honor to serve.”

Wilk has nearly four years of experience in state legislature and feels he’d be able to “hit the ground running on day one to help the Santa Clarita Valley and the High Desert.”

When asked who he thought would be a good replacement for his seat in California’s 38th State Assembly District, he said he was not sure, as his decision to run happened at the funeral of former first lady Nancy Reagan.

The 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
