Supervisor Barger Endorses Santa Clarita Assemblywoman Valladares

Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez Valladares, R-Santa Clarita, who is running for re-election to the California State Assembly in the newly drawn 40th Assembly District, announced a key endorsement from Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger on Tuesday.

“I have known Suzette for many years not only as a legislator but also as a true friend. Suzette will be a strong voice for the Santa Clarita Valley and Northern San Fernando Valley. I know she will fight to fix homelessness in our communities and help ensure public safety,” Barger said. “Suzette will work across the aisle to get bipartisan legislation done for our 40th Assembly District. Over the past two years, Suzette has worked night and day to make her district a more happy and healthy place.”

Barger represents Los Angeles County’s 5th Supervisorial District, the county’s largest, which includes 20 cities and 83 unincorporated communities in the Antelope, San Gabriel, San Fernando, Crescenta, and Santa Clarita Valleys.

Valladares, who was first elected in 2020, announced her re-election efforts earlier this month.

“Kathryn is a great friend and leader in our communities. I look forward to continuing to work together to improve our schools, deliver accessible healthcare and vaccines, address our homelessness issues, and increase public safety in our neighborhoods,” Valladares said.

In a December interview with KHTS, Valladares noted that in her political future she planned to put a special focus on spending the states’ resources intelligently, purposely putting funds toward defeating what she refers to as ‘learning loss’ in students affected by pandemic-related changes.

This could possibly include raises for teachers and other government education employees according to Valladares during the interview.

These stated goals could potentially reflect future plans for Valladares in her new campaign to run for re-election in Assembly District 40.

  1. There is a double negative.
All she needs now is Katy Hill to lead her campaign.
