City Of Santa Clarita Seeks Input On Biking, Walking Plan

The City of Santa Clarita has announced another public meeting opportunity for attendees to engage in discussion and provide feedback on biking and walking solutions for the community, officials said Thursday.

The meeting is set to take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. in the Century Room of Santa Clarita City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.

“In shaping the Non-Motorized Transportation Plan for Santa Clarita’s future, it is a necessity to receive input from the public that the Plan will serve,” said City officials in a release.

To date, participation has been outstanding with online responses from over 800 residents, along with the attendance of an additional 140 residents at three pop-up workshops and two neighborhood meetings, according to City officials.

“The overarching goal of the plan is to reduce single-occupancy vehicle use and traffic congestion by promoting bicycling and walking,” City officials said.

At the meeting, residents can expect to hear about the City’s ideas and developments for reaching this goal, in addition to being given an open forum for opinions and critique, according to the release.

  1. When is the city going to fix the red light traffic synchronization?
This question has been asked for more that 20 years, and still no answer.

Maybe the city does not understand the problem.

Having the same old people there, who do not listen, is the problem.
Time to get some new people who can solve this issue, instead of coming up with walking and biking plans.
I am sure that these old people do not bike or walk.

  2. I just followed the link in the article to take the online survey, and apparently it is now closed. A good site though for bikers who use the paths in Santa Clarita.

  3. BE SMART! DO NOT ELIMINATE TRAFFIC LANES FOR BIKE LANES. IT DOESN’T WORK! WITH THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMING TO THIS VALLEY, WE’LL NEED ALL THE LANES WE HAVE NOW. OTHER CITIES HAVE TRIED THIS AND IT’S BEEN A DISASTER.

  4. People don’t want to ride to the store that’s to much work make the bike path for electric bikes too. Also need longer green lights during rush hour

  5. It’s not safe to have 1 plus ton vehicles intermixed with bicyclists. There is many many more vehicles than bikes used for transportation. This is a commuting community and we have to plan accordingly. There are not enough job opportunities in the community to support the locals.
Additional routes out of Santa Clarita- Pico maybe?
    Fix the freeways minimize merging.

  6. Stop with more bikey lanes——Build more roads!!!
