“A Holiday Story of Generosity: Wali Dad, The Grass Cutter,” which tells the story of a simple man, his generosity, and bringing two countries together will appear at The Main in Newhall for families to enjoy.

The performance will have three public shows at The Main on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.

“This really is a perfect show for the entire family, especially for this time of year,” said David Stears, executive director of Santa Clarita Shakespeare. “It is a positive and fun story of how one man’s generosity brings together two people and two countries.”

The performance is an original bilingual adaptation of the East Indian folktale, adapted by Jay Kasten, and directed by Erin McBride Africa.

“The play has one character that speaks entirely in Spanish,” said Erin McBride Africa, the play’s director. “The dialogue uses reflective speech, so all the audience understands the conversation. The language doesn’t create a barrier.”
