An 82-year-old man was rescued Sunday after getting lost near Towsley Canyon in Newhall, officials said. 

At around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies received a report of a missing hiker near Calgrove Boulevard and The Old Road, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station. 

“Thankfully, he had his cell phone with him and was able to call for help,” Miller said. 

After an extensive search in the area, the man was located, according to Miller. 

The LASD Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Air Rescue 5 inserted tactical medics and airlifted the hiker to safety, according to Sheriff’s officials. 

“He appeared to be in good condition,” Miller said.
