An electrical transformer exploded near the Jimmy Deans location in Newhall late Tuesday afternoon, causing a brief shutdown of Kansas Street.
Just before 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a transformer explosion near Lyons Avenue and Kansas Street in Newhall.
“The transformer blew and is no longer on the pole,” said Leslie Lua, spokesperson for the department.
The transformer fell just north of the Newhall Jimmy Deans, producing visible smoke in front of the Kansas Street townhomes, according to officials on scene.
Kansas Street was temporarily blocked off as officials worked to clear the incident.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, according to Lua.
Officials with Southern California Edison were requested to repair the equipment just after firefighters arrived on scene.
An estimated time of repair was not immediately available as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
