Crazy Otto’s Diner Valencia Location Closed For Health Code Violation

The Crazy Otto’s Diner location in Valencia has been closed for seven days by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health after the restaurant opened for dine-in service last week in defiance of current public health orders.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health posted a notice of closure on the Crazy Otto’s Diner location in Valencia Sunday afternoon which cited several violations of the Health and Safety Code.

Adam Finley, a partner and operator at the separately owned Crazy Otto’s Diner location in Canyon Country confirmed the closure was expected to last for seven days.

“They got in trouble for opening up last week,” said Finley. “People wanted to come in and eat but we just can’t do it.”

Diners were seen eating in the Valencia restaurant without adhering to social distancing measures and without face coverings.

Finley emphasized that while the two businesses share the same name, they are separately owned entities and the Canyon Country location is operating with a different set of rules.

“Just like the grocery stores we wear masks, wipe stuff down, stay six feet apart, but for now we’re still just doing take out,” Finley said. “We’re trying to do the right things and follow the rules.”

While Finley and the Canyon Country location continue to adhere to the available guidelines, he also spoke to the challenge that small businesses face in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and current public health orders.

“They said May 15th but now we just have to go to July, it’s a little hard, you know,” Finley said. “My restaurant has dropped 85 percent in sales, how much longer do you think I can sustain that even with help from the government?”

The owners of the Crazy Otto’s Diner Valencia location could not be reached by KHTS for comment as of Monday afternoon.

  1. All the restaurants should just open. It is safe as long as they are following the protacals but in place. I ate there last week amd and enjoyed it so much it is time we are smart careful free people #opensantaclarita
    ..

    • No way take out only! go eat at home if you don’t like it and stop trying to spread this thing we want it to go away so we can get back to normal. #keepyourmaskonscv

      • Yeah! Keep wearing your improperly implemented PPE and spreading just as much of whatever with your security blankets. GOOD PLAN!!!

        • Betty Jo, you are spot on. The people that are scared should stay at home for as long as they want to. Everyone else needs to get back to work and try to piece the economy back together.

          • 100% agree, Mike. No one is forcing those who are scared to go eat in a restaurant. Stay in your house for the next 50 years for all I care. The rest of us would like to return to business as usual.

      • The more/quicker it spreads the sooner it goes about dumba$$.

If you aren’t comfortable, then don’t go there.

        • Hahahaha! I agree with you!!
Damn McNuisance needs to stop letting the jail birds out and focus on opening up restaurants opening and self distancing is up to the adults and owners, they let the gyms open WTH?!

    • Was the pandemic cancelled so you could be smart and carefree or is it still raging?
You are not free to be stupid and careless by putting others at risk, Ms. Bingham.

      • .002 is not raging. Fake masks do nothing

      • The faster it spreads, the sooner this is over. So if you’re uncomfortable with their practices, don’t go there.

        • So are you saying that the faster it spreads, kills whoever gets sick, does what it’s been clearly made to do according to the unspoken agenda, while the rest of the world can go on with their life, asymptomatic and all, to adhere to the agenda of population control……that’s what that sounds like to me…..Woooooowwwzzzzzerrrsss. We need to think before we speak.

  2. Let places open and we the people may choice to go or not. This is nothing more than government over reach. We are not stupid people and know how to take care of our self. This area is not Los Angeles county in size. I just heard they laying off people at Henry Mayo because no one is in the hospital.

  3. We ate there last week and enjoyed this short-lived freedom. I applaud Crazy Otto’s for being bold enough to stand against this ridiculous ruling. Masks don’t keep anyone safe. It’s time to open up and move on with life. Your risk of getting the virus is SO SMALL. Its time for life to get back to normal.

    • Tell the doctors wearing them that masks don’t keep anyone safe.

      • They know how to use them and they are N95 masks. I see cloth masks that are dirty on people and they have their hands on them messing with them all the time. They do not change them after every use, so really they carry more germs than they block!

        • Anything covering your mouth and nose will prevent you from spitting your virus all over the place, and a simple bandana is better than nothing to prevent you from inhaling the virus particles stupid people like you are spitting out when you are talking. Also the virus dies on your mask not to long after you stupid people spit them out

    • There are over 900 people with it spreading it around. how can you be so ignorant to say your chance of getting is slim?

      • Yes but that number covers all of the jails ( over 250) and goes from Castaic/ Val Verde across to Acton. The City has much less, about 550, and we have almost 200,000 residents in just the City. There has sadly been 17 deaths, but 9 of them have been from the Oakmore Senior Facility. We need to take care of the Seniors and let the rest of us live. I will not call you ignorant but you do the math. I am not saying we go back to no safety procedures, but we do need to go back to work and life!!

        • Those numbers are just the people that have taken the test.how many people have Not been tested? Yes I say we need to open everything up also, but with masks on for now. Until we figure this virus completely out

    • 1600 new cases daily in California.

  4. These are the same idiots that will say the govt. isn’t doing enough. & while you are saying you’re smart brush up on your pronunciation.

  5. We have the numbers of infected people but what they don’t tell you is the number of the “lives saved” by effectively putting the population under house arrest.
It comes down to there is no way of knowing that what the continually paid government has ordered is working or not. We can find out if they get reasonable and let their constituents decide whether or not they should go to work or stay home.
You may want to stay home with your mask and wipes and keep the faith in the paranoia that the government is dishing out OR you may want to do for yourself and earn a living, get your hair cut, shake hands with others (or bump elbows that you just sneezed in) sit down and have something to eat at a restaurant, take a trip on a plane or cruise ship, shop for some new clothes that you can try on before buying, lay on the beach and let your body make vitamin D from the sun, have some friends meet you at the park and have a barbeque and fellowship, get a massage to relieve stress, or go to the gun club and get some target practice.
The virus did not mess up the economy. Our most wonderful politicians did! They are given their power by the sheep that follow them.

  6. Source- Johns Hopkins University and Medicine
Here are some stats you should be aware of. They are listed by county in the US. LA county comes in number four (4) in confirmed cases behind:
    NYC, NY
    Cook, IL
    Nassau, NY
    LA, CA
This should scare the holy living sh!t out of you or, at least give you pause enough to rethink this emergency. We are in LA county. people are coming to the SCV from elsewhere for this type of reason. We are a wide spot along the I-5 and SR-14, a great pit stop to grab a bite. The virus travels with people; more people, more opportunities to contract it. No vaccine, no cure, no end in sight.

    • You need to look at our Cities rate. Stay at home was never meant to stop this virus, it was meant to flatten the curve. Just like you can not stop any other virus/flu. We now have done our part and must learn how to LIVE with it not hide from it. We can do that! If you can not stay home

    • What do you do for a living, “Denny NNWofLA”? How are you paying your mortgage/rent, caring for your family, right now? Do you have a job, do you own a business? Are you collecting unemployment benefits or other?

The more testing there is, the more infected cases there will be … DUH! This is a nearly meaningless stat. For us general population-ers, look at the DEATH RATE, adjust for senior care facilities and prisons – and you get a truer picture of risk factor … it’s remarkably low, and WAAAAAAAY lower than the bs projections we were fed by the media early on.

I don’t want to catch this flu OR the regular flu, or any other nasty bugs that are always out there – but it’s my choice. If you want to cocoon up in your dwelling, fine, if that makes you feel safer, do it, nobody is stopping you. But don’t for one second stop me from providing for myself and my family by using bs projections. I can look at the data myself and see what the risk is (and it looks to be less and less every day).

If I want to go out without a mask and lick railings, it’s none of your effing business. Not to mention, the quicker this virus spreads, the quicker we achieve herd immunity – so you should be championing all those out there taking on the risk, right?

Are people suffering with the virus, yes … is our imperfect society always suffering with various forms of illness and death, YES!

I’ll take on the risk level I’m comfortable with, and you do the same. I refuse to let democrat wannabe dictators and hyper lefty partisans destroy the entire U.S. economy in 8 EFFING WEEKS (with devastating consequences), over a virus with less than a 0.18% death rate. Give me an effing break, you must be a real mess when you hop in the car … due to the risk involved and all.

  7. Customers were seen eating without face coverings ?? Is there some other way ??

  8. You silly little fools. Go ahead run around without your masks off. Show me how brave and free your are. This is going to be a fun couple of months. Don’t forget to kiss your grandma for me.

  9. Why all the hate? What’s the point? I really want to know. At this rate we are going to hurt ourselves and our fellow citizens before the virus does. Just remember, we are all in this together and most of us will get through it. I am not going to lie, some of us won’t live to see the end of this pandemic but some of us will. Let us be kind towards one another regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, or political affiliations. Not even one year ago we all got together and got through a horrible wild fire. Believe it or not, that event restored my faith in humanity and made me proud to be a resident of Santa Clarita. That faith is still there and will continue to be there. I love this city, our county, and of course our country. I will still support our local businesses while being safe to myself and others. See you out in the city. God bless you and your families Santa Clarita. #DontLoseFaith

    • Thank you Henry for your thoughtful comments. Some of the others make me appreciate even more the fact we do not live in an open-carry state. It’s sad that so many are selfish about putting others at risk with irresponsible attitudes and behavior and ignoring their social contract, a concept that seems foreign to them. Stay safe, neighbor.

  10. Ha ha. LOVE how people call others ‘scared’ and to ‘just stay home’ because they choose to be cautious and follow the law.
The smart are labeled dumb and the dumb think they are so smart.

  11. Walk across an invisible border for a better life without hurting anyone?
    Put them in cages!

Violate health and safety laws and put the community in danger?
    Set up gofundme account.

Their racist hypocrisy really knows no bounds.

  12. I have never been there and now I will never go there.

  13. Sure, the quicker you get it, the quicker it’s over. (For you)

    • True, some people do DIE quickly from the Coronavirus. You might die even faster if you take Hydrochloroquine away from the hospital and have a heart attack.

  14. There will never be a return to normal as we knew it. Even if COVID-19 was cured tomorrow, the economic depression will continue to downturn. We’ve been broken regardless. Rush out and even more people will die and the economy will continue to crash regardless. Stay home and you crash the economy faster. There’s no winning here ever.

  15. Well we never had a national plan, so with no plan there is no structure. The virus is not leaving, we are going to have to learn to live with it.

    • We had an agency for handling pandemics with Obama.Trump was trained in it, and then promptly dropped it altogether 3years ago. Everyone knows this fact. It can be verified. It was a big mistake.

      • CDC failed us not the President with their stupid six foot recommendation instead of just telling everyone to get some sort of face covering on out in public and at work before this thing spread. We take advice from them not the President

  16. We must realize that the virus will be with us, we must learn to live with it. And if you do own a business u have to be responsible.

  17. Such a rush to go out and eat give me a break!! Wait for things to open up..and I get so sick of hearing let “The Scared” people stay inside like a who has the bigger balls ego!!! There are people like me that don’t want to get sick or their family not that I’m scared hiding under my table so stop with all the scared people crap! Fallow the rules so we can open up again.

  18. The story here is about a local restaurant violating orders of the Health Department therefore endangering lives. Funny/Sad to see all these “Law and Order” folks cheering lawlessness.
This is where we are now, here, deep in the Trump world where down is up, truth is lies.

  19. You’re right, Denny. And some of those folks march off to church on Sunday after spouting rebellious “You can’t tell me what to do” declarations, and hating large numbers of people who don’t share their opinion. Calling people stupid, and sheep, (and not behaving in a Christian way ) is so disappointing. Think about it!
WWJD: What would Jesus do? He would not condone lashing out at others and calling people “Dirty Dems” and say they’ve been brainwashed. He would not want us to support the immoral, hate-filled president. We need to rise above this terrible situation and make Trump lose in November. I know many republicans who just can’t defend him anymore.

    • Sorry but the hate filled ones are the Democrats and their hate filled media towards America’s President it is a shame and embarrassment to the proud American. With that said I do not approve of him trying to reopen everything at once but he has the advice of our so called experts up there that don’t seem to know anything about this airborne virus. their lack of pushing the importance of face covering for everyone showed that. the President likes to Pat himself on the back but with so much hate news outlets spreading hate towards him I don’t blame him. everyone else cowards down to the left it makes me proud that he does not coward down and stands up to the haters.

      • Hey Will-
Proud Americans are ashamed and embarrassed that the orange toad sitting in the White House is what we have as our president. He has no leadership skills; only bullying tactics. He is personally responsible for far more deaths than would have occurred had he acted much sooner instead of denying and blaming as he is wont to do.
You lied a couple days ago when you said you …”read all news and articles from both sides…” No, you don’t. Anyone actually doing that would find it impossible to be so abysmally ignorant.

      • Oh, what a victim poor Trump is. A snowflake….
