Los Angeles Dodgers
Waker Buehler has begun to solidify himself as a dominant force on the mound in the National League this summer. Buehler has recorded 9+ strikeouts in 6/10 starts since June 3rd, and only two starts in that period has he failed to reach six innings pitched.
Last Saturday against the Padres he was sensational. Complete game, one earned run and 15 strikeouts. He dropped his ERA 16 points, to 3.22, the lowest its been since June 21st. With the American League favorite Houston Astros having geared up at the trade deadline adding Zack Greinke, and if these two teams were to meet in the World Series for the second time in three years, it would be a starting pitching heavyweight showdown.
The 25-year-old Buehler could be the X-Factor on the mound for the Dodgers.
Tonight, he faces the Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. The D-Backs have won four of their last five games, so it is important for Buehler to set the tone early and pick up right where he left off against the Padres.
First pitch is at 7:10, and you can listen live to every inning on your Dodgers station for the Santa Clarita Valley, KHTS FM 98.1.
SCV In NFL Preseason
The preseason kicked off on Thursday for more than half the league, including former Hart and Stanford wide receiver Trent Irwin. Irwin caught both of his targets for 32 yards, with a long of 22 in his first game action as a professional with the Miami Dolphins.
On the Dolphins current depth chart he is ahead of veterans such as Allen Hurns and Brice Butler. It’s early, but good signs so far for Irwin.
Now that Earl Thomas has moved on to the Baltimore Ravens, former Valencia and Colorado safety Tedric Thompson looks to be earning an increased role in the Seattle Seahawks defense and is currently the starting free safety on the depth chart.
The 24-year-old is entering his third season in the NFL.
