Dodgers Are In Philly After Big Weekend At Fenway Park

The Dodgers are in Philadelphia to finish off this seven game road trip to open the second half of the season, full of confidence after winning the weekend series against the Red Sox (2-1).

This past weekend’s series started out how last season ended: a resounding defeat to the Red Sox. However, Saturday and Sunday at Fenway proved to be a much different story, as L.A. outscored Boston 18-6. Last night’s 7-4 victory even 12 innings put the kind of mental toughness the Dodgers need to consistently play with on full display, if they are going to right the wrong of the last two season’s World Series losses.

On Sunday, it was the bullpen that stood firm and allowed the offense time to find a late groove. Pedro Baez gave up two solo homers in the eighth inning (and six earned runs in his last three appearances is concerning), but after that five different pitchers came in to pitch four scoreless innings.

Today, Clayton Kershaw (7-2, 3.09 ERA) hits the mound to face Bryce Harper and the Phillies. Kershaw has owned the former MVP in his career, giving up just a .125 batting average and single home run in 24 plate appearances for Harper.

First pitch is at 4:00, and be sure to listen to every inning of the National League leading Dodgers on KHTS FM 98.1.
