Foothill League Softball Opens Today – Santa Clarita Sports Report – April 10, 2018

Santa Clarita High School Softball

League play begins today around Santa Clarita.

Here is the schedule and some questions each team will need to answer. First pitch is at 3:15.

3 Golden Valley vs West Ranch

Can Cassidy Cangemi (.519 batting average and 9-1 with a 0.49 ERA) dominate the league and earn Player of the Year honors?

Will West Ranch junior ace Jenna Rorick (already at 75.2 innings pitched this year after 89.2 all of last season) lead the Wildcats to the playoffs?

Valencia vs Hart

Will Valencia’s brutal non-league schedule prove the Vikings battle tested en route to a third straight league title?

Does Hart have the pitching to match the rest of the Foothill League?

Canyon vs Saugus

Can the Cowboys limit their defensive mistakes?

Are the Centurions as good as their +64 run differential suggests?

Santa Clarita High School Baseball

Monday scoreboard:

Moorpark: 0

West Ranch: 3

Brenden Fisher, Justin Bumgarner and David Montalban combined to allow four hits and get the shutout victory. Much needed for a Wildcats team that was dismantled in the Boras Classic last week.

Valencia: 4

King: 9

Valencia has lost six of seven games heading into Wednesday’s Foothill League game at Saugus.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Hyun-Jin Ryu totes the slab for the Dodgers in the first of a two game interleague series at Dodger Stadium.

First pitch is at 7:10.
