Former Hart Quarterback Brady White Named To Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2020

Former Hart High School quarterback Brady White was one of 35 college football quarterbacks to be named to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2020, recognizing the best quarterbacks of the season.

The selection makes White eligible to win the Davey O’Brien Award at the end of the season, which is given out each year to the best quarterback in college football.

Now in his redshirt senior year at the University of Memphis, White is the school’s all-time leader in career passing touchdowns with 83, wins as a starting quarterback with 26 and needs only 304 passing yards to set another school career record.

With two games remaining on the schedule, White has completed 191 of his 313 passing attempts (61 percent) for 2,602 yards and 24 touchdowns, enough to earn him a selection to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2020.

A full list of selections to the class of 2020 is available here.

White was also invited to the 2021 East-West Shrine Bowl Game on Wednesday, which seeks to recognize outstanding senior seasons in college football.

White shared his thanks to the Shrine Bowl for his selection on Twitter and they offered their congratulations.

In a typical season, the East-West Shrine Bowl puts on an all-star game featuring the best seniors in college football, however this season’s game has been cancelled due to the challenges presented by COVID-19, according to officials.

The game’s organizers chose to still announce selections this year to recognize those outstanding senior seasons.

This year, players will instead have the opportunity to participate in virtual training sessions hosted in conjunction with the National Football League to prepare players for the 2021 NFL Draft.

These sessions are expected to be attended by current NFL coaches and operations staff.

In addition to the training sessions, some players will also participate in various virtual experiences with patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children, who the game benefits.

Now in his third as the starter for Memphis, White’s performance has been key to Tigers’ success this year.

A three-year starter for the Tigers, White has been especially impressive in key moments this season and his 14 second-half touchdown passes this season lead the nation.

He helped lead Memphis (6-2, 4-2 AAC) to comeback victories in each of its four conference wins this season. He completed a 21-point comeback, the largest in school history, over UCF with a last-minute, game-winning touchdown.

White and the Tiger’s next game is this Saturday on the road against Tulane University at 9:00 a.m.
