The Hart football team is No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll for the fifth week in a row. Hart beat Ridgeview from Bakersfield, 56-7, on Friday night.

The Canyon football team is ranked No. 2 in the Northern Division after a 55-14 thrashing of Quartz Hill.

Valencia is No. 5 after beating Righetti, 34-19, on the road in Santa Maria.

The West Ranch football team took a big hit, dropping to No. 10 after losing to Thousand Oaks, 20-9.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team is ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section Division 2 8-man poll for the second week in a row.

Trinity beat Lancaster Baptist, 51-13, in the Heritage League opener.

In high school tennis, the Valencia girls are ranked No. 9 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll. The Vikings are 5-1 after beating Westlake, 14-4, over the weekend.

In cross country, the Saugus girls are ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll. The Canyon girls are in the top 10 at No. 8 in the Division 2 poll.

The West Ranch girls are ranked No. 9 in the Southern Section Division 1 poll.

The Saugus boys are the only team from the Foothill League ranked in the Southern Section Division 2 top 10. They are No. 6.

In baseball, the Dodgers are in San Francisco to start a three-game series with the Giants tonight.

The Dodgers are jockeying for playoff position. They are chasing the Braves and Cardinals for the best record in the National League. The Braves and Cardinals each have 92 wins. The Dodgers have 90.
