Hart High Baseball 2020 ‘Wall Of Fame’ Inductees Announced

The William S. Hart High School Baseball Program is expected to honor alumnus Aaron Dean and long-time team physician Dr. Jeff Bowne as their 2020 “Wall of Fame” inductees ahead of the team’s annual alumni game and team preview on Sunday, Jan. 26th, according to Hart Dugout Club President John Dow.

Dean, Hart High School class of 1994, played first base throughout his baseball career, including his three-year stint in the minors.

His playing career was almost cut short, however, when he was involved in a car wreck that threw him from the window of a pickup truck and left him with a broken back and a punctured lung, according to a 1995 report from Jeff Fletcher of the L.A. Times.

The back and lung injuries healed without surgery, and while Dean beat the odds and returned to the sport he loved, he continued to deal with back soreness, according to Fletcher.

Despite these challenges, Dean was able to get his swing back and find his way onto a minor league roster for several years.

Bowne, while not an alumnus of Hart High School, was a lifelong baseball player, having played NCAA Division 1 baseball for Gonzaga University and some minor league baseball.

Since the end of his baseball career, Bowne went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences, began to practice in 2002 and eventually co-founded Valencia Sports Medicine in 2010, according to his professional bio.

The team’s annual event is open to the community and set to take place at the Hart High School baseball field.

Any former Hart Baseball alumni are invited to play in the game, according to Dow.

The afternoon is scheduled to kick off with the national anthem sung by Hart High School’s award-winning 11-member a capella group, HartBeat.

In addition to alumni and Wall of Fame introductions, the Hart baseball 2020 freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams are also expected to be introduced before the game.

Any Hart Baseball alumni interested in playing can RSVP by emailing hartalumnigame@gmail.com.
