Week Six
West Ranch (6-0, 1-0): 52
Golden Valley (5-1, 0-1): 13
The Wildcats made a statement on the road Friday night, dominating the Grizzlies from start to finish.
West Ranch played complementary football in all three phases: the defense forced five turnovers that the offense converted into 21 points, and Jackson Reyes returned a kickoff for a touchdown to kill Golden Valley’s momentum with the scoreline 24-13 in the third quarter.
The Grizzlies couldn’t Johnathan Kaelin and their run game going, their only bright spots coming on touchdown catches from Mehkile Newton and Mahdi Bey in the third quarter. Another credit to the impresive performance of the Wildcats defense.
West Ranch receiver/cornerback Brandon Wyre announced his presence with two touchdown catches and an interception, the standout player in the game.
Golden Valley will be back at home next week with an opportunity to get right against Saugus, while West Ranch hosts Canyon looking to get to 7-0 for the second consecutive season.
–
Saugus (3-3, 0-1): 20
Hart (4-2, 1-0): 35
Zach Johnson led with three total touchdowns (two passing one rushing) and Taden Littleford added another two on the ground, as the Indians picked up their fourth win in a row.
Saugus didn’t go down without a fight, though, outscoring Hart 20-14 in the second half. They got to within one score with 4:35 to play in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t execute an onside kick. Littleford would score his second touchdown on the ensuing drive to put the game out of reach.
Hart will be back at Cougar Stadium next week with a big matchup with rival Valencia, and Saugus visits Golden Valley going for their first league win.
–
Canyon (2-4, 0-1): 7
Valencia (3-3, 1-0): 31
Valencia started fast against Canyon, racing out to a 28-0 halftime lead, then cruised in the second half to victory.
Canyon quarterback Aydyn Litz scored the Cowboys only pionts with a nice 18 yard touchdown run.
Make it 38 league wins in a row and counting for head coach Larry Muir and the Vikings.
