The CIF Southern Section preseason top 10 rankings were released recently, and both William S. Hart High School and West Ranch High School made appearances.
Hart High School came in as the ninth-ranked team among Division 4 CIF Southern Section teams.
“It’s a long season. You never know what can happen,” said Hart Football Head Coach Mike Herrington. “But if our guys continue to prove it week in (and) week out, we think we have as good a chance as anyone to do well in league and then do well in the playoffs.”
Similarly, in the Division 7 rankings, West Ranch High School also comes into the season ranked as the ninth-best team in their division.
The teams of the Foothill League are scattered across the Southern Section’s playoff divisions.
Among Foothill League teams, only West Ranch and Canyon High School share a division.
Valencia High School plays among the best teams in the state in Division 1 / 2, but failed to crack the top 10 going into the season.
Saugus High School and Golden Valley High School also did not appear in either of Division 5 or Division 6 rankings, respectively.
No matter the level of expectations, each of these teams are expected to look to prove the doubters wrong and start this season’s journey when the regular season kicks off Friday night.
