When West Ranch head coach Chris Varner was asked about Staub’s progress this season, he praised his hard work saying it has been incredible seeing him “trusting his own skills and not outthinking himself” continuing “he’s as good as anyone you’re going to see.”

Staub continues to throw perfectly going into the second quarter, throwing a 20 yard pass to wide receiver Chaz Hilst who gets it into the endzone for a touchdown, making the score 28-0.

Leaving the Cowboys on their heels, the Wildcats build their momentum on defense as linebacker Brady Van Bennekum gets an interception at the 20 yard line, then takes it to the end zone for a touchdown with 8 minutes and 45 seconds left in the 2nd quarter, making the score, 35-0.

The Wildcats head into halftime up big, 45-0, following a touchdown from wide receiver Isaac Ellis.

Coming back in the second half, Ryan Staub takes a break, and junior quarterback Zach Wyre takes over on the field.

After their tremendous victory on the field, coach Varner says he’s really proud of his team after their win, and looks forward to what they have in store for the rest of the league.

After getting ranked #3 in the L.A Daily news, Varner says learning of the news, he’s so proud of the kids and what they have overcome after their COVID season, saying “these were our COVID kids that were sophomores that had to play varsity… so those kids rallied after that and just decided they wanted as seniors to set the stage…make the mark.”

After coming close to winning the league last year, the Wildcats are determined to make it happen this season.

West Ranch has a tough road ahead as they are set to face their Saugus next Friday.

Canyon will be taking a bye week then looking to redeem themselves against Castaic in a home game on Friday 09/30.
