The Rams won their NFC Championship game against the Saints 26-23, after Greg Zuerlein made a comeback for the team with a 57-yard field goal three minutes and 17 seconds into overtime.

During the game, Ryan James from KHTS Radio went to the Local Pub and Grill to talk to Santa Clarita football fans about how they felt about the Rams’ chances going in.

While enjoying drinks and food, customers rooting for the Rams watched as the intensity of the game grew.

The game started out with a strong opening from the Saints offense, scoring two field goals and one touchdown in the first quarter alone. Meanwhile, the Saints defense managed to hold the Rams from scoring at all in that same stretch of time.

“It was back and forth,” said Saints Quarterback Drew Brees in a post-game press conference. “Obviously we jumped out 13 to nothing, so we got the momentum at that point. It was just hard-fought after that.”

The Rams responded in the second quarter with a 36-yard field goal and a six-yard run for a touchdown. The teams eventually tied 20-20 as they reached the five-minute mark in the fourth quarter.

“I felt confident in our players’ ability to be able to execute,” said Rams Head Coach Sean McVay in the press conference. “They delivered in a big way.”

The game came down to the final two minutes, as Saints Kicker Wil Lutz made a 31-yard field goal with only 1:41 left on the clock. However, the Rams offense was able to set up their kicker, Greg Zuerlein, for a 48-yard field goal to tie the game with only 15 seconds left.

“We felt like, ‘Okay, if we get to a tie game, we feel good about the outcome being able to turn in our favor if we’re able to get a couple more possessions,’” McVay said. “Ultimately it ended up working out for us because of our players.”

The Rams are scheduled to face the New England Patriots Feb. 3 in Atlanta, exactly 17 years after their most recent Super Bowl appearance, a 20-17 loss to New England in Super Bowl XXXVI.

  1. Try ((like) a 57 yard field goal to win… and a handy no-call on the Rams defense.
