Santa Clarita Sports Report – December 22, 2017

Santa Clarita High School Girls Basketball

Saugus (11-1): 66

Maywood: 9

The Centurions continue to roll through the Marquez Tournament with their tenth win in a row. Sophomore Libbie McMahan continues to play at an MVP level with another 20-point performance (23 pts). Next up  is Hamilton at 5:30 this evening.

Santa Barbara Tournament

Valencia (5-8) dropped its third straight game with Thursday losses to Harvard-Westlake (66-52) and Ventura (52-44). The Vikings will play Oaks Christian today at 3:00.

Hart (7-4): 58

Oak Park: 43

The Indians used a 16-5 fourth quarter to pull away from Oak Park and earn their seventh win.

Nike Tournament of Champions

Fairmont Prep: 48

Canyon (6-2): 52

The Cowboys’ big win over Fairmont Prep propels them to the tournament championship against the 8-0 Centennial Corona Huskies. Quite possibly the biggest girls basketball game of the non-league schedule to date for a Foothill League team.

Boys Soccer

Crescenta Valley: 1

West Ranch (4-0-2): 3

The Wildcats scored two second half goals to defeat the Falcons. West Ranch unbeaten through six games, is off to its best start since the 08/09 season.

Friday’s schedule:

Notre Dame vs Hart (2-3-1) at 2:00

Serrano vs Golden Valley (3-3-2) at 3:15

TMU Basketball

The Mustangs open Westmont Tournament play this evening against Antelope Valley, the third non-conference meeting between these two teams this season, with the Mustangs only loss coming at Antelope Valley in the second game of the year.

Tipoff is at 5:00 from Westmont.
