College of the Canyons

The men’s basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped at Santa Monica Wednesday night to fall to 1-1 in conference play. The 82-69 loss marked the first time the Cougars have allowed 80 points or more since December 28 in the Holiday Classic.

Next up in Western State Conference play is Bakersfield at home on Saturday.

The women’s team also fell to 1-1 after its 83-67 defeat at the hands of Santa Monica. The Cougars are winless on the road this season.

In more exciting news, the COC Athletics Department will induct its 2017 Hall of Fame Class tonight. Here is the list if inductees:

Ulric Grigsby – Meritorious Service (24 seasons as coaching assistant with the Track & Field team)

Jessica Gomez – Cross Country/Track & Field

Sha’Tasha Allen – Women’s Basketball

JJ Arrington – Football

2004 National Champion COC Football

TMU Basketball

Both Mustangs teams are in action, with the men looking for its fifth in a row and the women trying to snap a two-game skid. The teams travel to Atherton to take on Menlo, with a 5:30 tip-off for the ladies and 7:30 for the men.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers lost their eighth game in nine tries, this time to the Trail Blazers 105-98, whom they’ve now fallen to three times in the past thirty days.

Tonight they’ll be in Utah for the second of back-to-back against the surging Jazz. Tip-off is at 7:30.
