The CIF-SS baseball and softball playoffs begin this week.

Santa Clarita High School Baseball

The CIF-SS baseball playoff brackets have been released, with First Round games on Thursday, May 18.

Division I

Dos Pueblos (18-9-1) vs 6 Valencia (23-7)

9 West Ranch (19-8) vs El Dorado (18-8-1)

Hart (20-10) vs 5 Vista Murrieta (21-8)

Division VI

Santa Clarita Christian (13-4) vs 6 Pomona (16-7)

Division VII

Coast Union (10-7) vs Trinity Classical Academy (10-9)

Shalhevet (8-7-1) vs 7 Albert Einstein Academy (12-3)

Santa Clarita High School Softball

Great Oak (11-8) vs 6 Valencia (21-7)

Saugus (16-12) vs Pacifica/Garden Grove (20-7)

Division VII

Santa Clarita Christian (8-6) vs Village Christian (15-10)

TMU Baseball

Michael Sexton continued his late season terror on opposing pitchers with another imposing offensive display. The third baseman blasted his team-leading 17th home run of the season this morning in the NAIA Opening Round Tournament game against LSU Shreveport to guide the Mustangs to an 8-4 victory.

TMU (36-21) plays Georgia Gwinnett College next, at 4 o’clock.

COC Softball

Canyons Softball was eliminated from the CCCAA Super Regionals with a 9-5 defeat to Santiago Canyon over the weekend.

The Cougars end their season 30-13-1.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers fell in Colorado, 9-6, to split a four-game series at two apiece. Pitching, as per usual, was the difference in the series for the Dodgers.

In the two losses, LA gave up a combined 19 runs; in the two victories, a mere two runs total.

More NL West work for the Boys in Blue, as they head to San Franncisco from Colorado for a three-game series with the rival Giants.

Brandon McCarthy (3-0) is scheduled to take on Matt Cain (2-1) at 7:15, catch all the action live on KHTS Radio!
