Trinity Classical Academy has filled their varsity girls basketball head coaching position with James De Monbrun, who has more than a decade of experience as both a player and coach in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Most recently, De Monbrun had been serving as an assistant coach for the Master’s College men’s basketball program under head coach Kelvin Starr since the 2018-19 season.
His own playing days at the prep-level took place at Valencia High School, where De Monbrun was a member of the basketball program from 2001-2005.

After the conclusion of his high school career, De Monbrun went on to spend 12 seasons as a member of the coaching staff at West Ranch High School and Valencia High School.
He joined the Master’s program following his resignation from the boy’s basketball staff at West Ranch High School in late 2017 following the sudden resignation of former West Ranch head coach Shant Bicakci.
In addition to his work with local high school programs, De Monbrun also has eight years of experience coaching club basketball and even founded the basketball academy Starting5 alongside his fellow Master’s University alumni Mike Penberthy and Andy Thompson.
