Vikings’ Noah Veluzat Claims Top Honors Among All-Foothill League Boys Basketball Selections

Valencia junior guard Noah Veluzat was named the 2019 – 2020 Foothill League boys basketball player of the year alongside the announcement of the first- and second-team all-league selections and honorable mentions.

Veluzat’s stellar play helped propel the Vikings to a 24-6 record overall, including a 9-1 first-place performance in the Foothill League.

The point guard averaged 18 points, six rebounds and five assists this season, but his play was even further elevated during league play, where he averaged 21 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Those averages helped propel Veluzat past the 1,000 career point and 800 career assist mark this season.

While Veluzat has had a remarkable pair of seasons with Valencia since joining the Vikings as a sophomore, he has yet to have his team repeat the success he achieved as a freshman with Santa Clarita Christian School (SCCS), when his team won a CIF-SS Division 5AAA championship and the Division 5 state championship.

This season ended in an 84-76 quarterfinal loss to Damien High School in the Division 1 bracket of the CIF-SS tournament for the Vikings.

Veluzat will have to truly embrace his role as the team leader next season, as the Vikings are set to lose six graduating seniors, four of whom were among the all-Foothill League first-team, second-team or honorable mention selections.
