The family of Saugus High Shooting victim Gracie Muehlberger joined with members of the community to spread holiday cheer and collect charity donations earlier this week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the holiday event “Caroling with Gracie” organized by Muehlberger’s mother Cindy, was meant to be a joint remembrance event and charity drive for local nonprofits, according to volunteers.
“A local social worker asked Gracie for help, she asked her friends. We’re out caroling collecting canned food for the Hart District Resource center,” said one Saugus student in attendance.
Two trailers hauled carolers through the Riverpark neighborhood in Santa Clarita, with dozens of members of the community and fellow Saugus High School students showing their support on Wednesday and Thursday.
15-year-old Gracie Muehlberger, and 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell were killed in a shooting at Saugus High School on Thursday, Nov. 14, along with the shooter, 16-year-old Nathaniel Berhow. Three other students were wounded, but have since returned home to recuperate.

Although “Caroling for Cans” has been a well established tradition in the Santa Clarita Valley, friends and family of Muehlberger decided that the best way to honor her memory would be to give back to the community in her name, according to organizers.
On the first night, around 75 volunteer carolers gathered approximately 400 non-perishable food items, $80 cash and $25 gift cards over the course of a night that was described as “two hours of countless smiles and laughs,” according to event volunteer and family friend Angie da Costa’s Facebook page.
“Gracie has a huge heart and loved helping others, so please help us, help her continue making a difference,” read an event flyer.

What Holiday season!?!? There’s many holidays this time of year!!! Are you trying to cover-up the majority Holiday, which is CHRISTMAS?!?! Please be sensitive to the majority, not loud mouth Anarchy’s disciples!!
Wow, JoJo. You think Christmas is the only holiday between Thanksgiving & New Year? Ever hear of Kwanza or Hanukkah? Those would be holidays. The POINT is, there were caring, giving people who wanted to help with donations in Gracie’s name. Don’t be such a Scrooge.
Christmas is a Holiday. Why are you offended by the word Hokiday?
