Areas of Valencia were left without power late Friday evening after officials with Southern California Edison (SCE) implemented rolling power outages.
Residents and businesses in Valencia began to report a total loss of power at around 7 p.m. Friday. No outages were appearing on the SCE Outage map despite multiple reports to Edison regarding the power outage.
However, it was later revealed that the California Independent System Operator (ISO) had called for a Stage 3 Power Emergency, directing power officials to implement rotating power outages as a result.
A Stage 3 Emergency has been implemented by the @California_ISO. As a result, there will be rotating power outages that typically last about an hour. For more information, please visit https://t.co/eyTTygdVcw

The portions of Valencia impacted are part of one of there main SCE outage groups: A057, A058, and A060. The maps for each area are listed below.
Each outage is expected to last roughly one hour, according to SCE officials.
As of 8 p.m. Friday, SCE officials said that the outages are expected to last through 9 p.m. Friday.
Recently, officials with the ISO issued a Flex Alert for the state of California.
During the Flex Alert, residents are being urged to turn off unnecessary lights, use major appliances before 3 p.m. and after 10 p.m. on Friday, and set their air conditioner thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, according to the California Independent System Operator (ISO).
The National Weather Service predicts the temperatures for Santa Clarita to reach upwards of 108 degrees on Friday, with triple-digits lasting thought the next week, according to David Sweet, a meteorologist with the agency.
“A Flex Alert is a call for consumers to voluntarily conserve electricity when there is a predicted shortage of energy supply, especially if the grid operator needs to dip into reserves to cover demand,” said ISO officials. “When consumers reduce electricity use at critical times, it can prevent more dire emergency measures, including possible power outages.”

The alert is issued by the California Independent System Operator, a nonprofit, public benefit corporation that manages the high-voltage electric grid for 80 percent of California.
A Flex Alert is typically issued in the summer when extremely hot weather pushes up electricity demand. This usually happens in the evening hours when solar generation is going offline and consumers are returning home and switching on air conditioners, lights, and appliances.
