An electrical vault explosion Tuesday has resulted in a Canyon Country power outage, officials said.

UPDATE: 2:30 p.m. — About 200 homes in Canyon Country are still without power, with an estimated restoration time of 7 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Southern California Edison.
Around 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters received reports of a vault fire on Soledad Canyon Road, near Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, said Henry Narvaez, spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“They saw flames coming from underground and heard an explosion,” Narvaez said
As a result of the fire, power has been knocked out for the surrounding area, according to Fire officials.
Nearly 900 residents are without power as of 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Southern California Edison Outage Center.
Eastbound traffic on Soledad Canyon Road is shut down for an unknown duration, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Office.
