UPDATE: Two Santa Clarita Power Outages Affect Residents Sunday

Two separate power outages Sunday have caused over residents in Canyon Country and Newhall to lose power in Santa Clarita.

UPDATE: (12:30 p.m.): The power is expected to be restored to the sole Canyon Country customer affected by the incident by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

UPDATE: (11:30 a.m.): Southern California Edison officials are currently re-evaluating the Canyon Country outage, noting that only just over 520 may now be affected by the incident.

The previous estimated restoration has been redacted while workers investigate the cause of the Canyon Country outage.

Original Story:

The first outage in Canyon Country is said to affect over 1,380 Southern California Edison customers.

The power is expected to be restored to most Canyon Country customers by 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Another power outage has caused nearly 40 customers to lose power in Newhall on Thursday, according to officials.

The power reportedly went out in the affected Newhall homes before 9:00 a.m., according to Southern California Edison.

Southern California Edison has listed the Newhall outage as a “repair outage,” caused by unexpected circumstances, such as traffic accidents or severe weather.

The power was expected to be restored to Newhall by 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
