Calgrove Fire In Stevenson Ranch Breaks Out Near The Old Road

The Calgrove Fire in Stevenson Ranch broke out near The Old Road on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

UPDATE (1:55 p.m.) Forward progress has been stopped on the Calgrove Fire, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

UPDATE (1:50 p.m.) The Calgrove Fire has grown to seven acres in size, according to Leslie Lua with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fixed-wing aircraft that had previously been requested has since been cancelled, Lua added.

UPDATE (1:35 p.m.): Firefighters have called for a second-alarm response for the Calgrove Fire, according to Leslie Lua with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A fixed-wing aircraft has been called for to drop fire retardant on the blaze, Lua added.

Original Post: At 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a brush fire near the intersection of The Old Road and Calgrove Boulevard in Stevenson Ranch.

“It’s on the side of the road near the 5 Freeway,” said Leslie Lua, spokesperson for the department

Dubbed the “Calgrove Fire,” officials arrived on scene  found a one-acre fire in light fuels, according to Lua.

As of 1:25 p.m., the blaze has since grown to five acres in size, with the potential to grow to 30 acres, according to officials on scene.

Firefighters were still on scene battling the blaze as of 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened as of 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known as of Tuesday afternoon.

  1. The fire did not “break out” Something caused it. Was it an auto accident, the construction company that is working right there? It was obviously caused by careless humans as usual since there certainly wasn’t a lightning storm this afternoon.
