A Castaic brush fire broke out Friday afternoon on the 5 Freeway north of Templin Highway, and was held to one acre, officials said.
The brush fire, dubbed the Brake Fire, was first reported to firefighters around 12:35 p.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway near Pyramid Lake, said Ian Connley, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
When units arrived at the scene, they reported a 100-by-20 spot fire burning in light grass, according to officials.
The fire grew to one acre before crews were able to stop forward progress of the blaze around 12:55 p.m., according to officials.
