The Escondido Fire on the 14 Freeway broke out near Escondido Canyon Road Saturday, engulfing a quarter of an acre of brush.
Dubbed the Escondido Fire, forward progress on the blaze was stopped as of 2:15 p.m., according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“The fire is at about one quarter acre on the side of the freeway,” said Supervisor Ed Pickett with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “The forward progress has been stopped and all aero support has been cancelled.”
A SigAlert has been issued for the closure of the number three and four lanes on the 14 Freeway just south of Escondido Canyon, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
