Gorman Brush Fire Shuts Down Highway 138

The Gorman brush fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon, temporarily shutting down Highway 138.

The Gorman brush fire, named the Sam Fire, was reported at about 4:10 p.m. on the 43800 block of Lancaster Road near Highway 138, according to officials  with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Sig-Alert (5:00 p.m.)

A Sig-Alert has been issued by the California Highway Patrol, closing Highway 138 between the 5 Freeway and 300th Street.

The Sam Fire has reached around 50 acres in size, according to LACoFD officials.

The incident was quickly upgraded to a Second Alarm Fire, with over 200 firefighters tackling the 15-acre blaze, according to LACoFD officials.

State Route 138 has been closed from Gorman Post Road to Ridge Route Road for an unknown duration due to the fire, according to California Highway Patrol incident logs.  Use alternate routes.
