Jump Fire In Saugus Breaks Out Near San Francisquito

The Jump Fire in Saugus broke out near San Francisquito Road Tuesday morning, burning several acres within minutes of being reported.

UPDATE: 11:10 a.m. — Forward progress on the Jump Fire has been stopped at about two-and-a-half acres, according to a spokesperson for the  Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a brush fire near the 28400 block of San Francisquito Road in Saugus.

“It’s two acres in light to medium fuels,” said Chris Thomas, spokesperson for the department. “It’s burning uphill away from structures.”

Smoke from the blaze was visible from as far as Decoro Drive and McBean Parkway.

“(Firefighters) are taking it seriously,” Thomas said. “We’re getting a jump on it.”

Evacuations were ordered at 11 a.m. for the area of Sugar Pine Way and White Pine Place, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Twitter.

No injuries have been reported as of 1o:45 a.m.

San Francisquito Canyon Road is closed as of 11:30 a.m. for an unknown duration form Copper Hill Drive to Quail Trail, according to the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
