The Post Fire in Gorman broke out near the 5 Freeway Sunday afternoon, with a second alarm response requested, officials said.
UPDATE: 8:40 a.m. Monday — The Post Fire has reached 35 percent containment, according to Chris Thomas, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
After forward progress was stopped Sunday evening, firefighters downgraded the size of the blaze to 120 acres, according to Thomas.
All lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway are now open, according to the CHP Fort Tejon Office.
UPDATE: 9 p.m. — Forward progress on the Post Fire has been stopped, according to a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
One vacant building was damaged due to the brush fire in Gorman, with no other structures damaged or threatened, according to Fire officials.
Original Story: The brush fire in Gorman, dubbed the Post Fire, was first reported at about 6:55 p.m. Sunday near the northbound 5 Freeway near Gorman Post Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported four acres and running, according to Fire officials.
As of 8:15 p.m., the fire has reached at least 100 acres, according to a dispatch supervisor with the Fire Department.
A SigAlert was issued for the 5 Freeway at Smoky Bear Road for the closure of all northbound lanes for an unknown duration, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The westbound direction of Highway 138 is also closed for an unknown duration, according to the SigAlert.
