Sierra Fire In Canyon Country Breaks Out Near Sierra Highway

A brush fire was reported to be one quarter acre in size on Sierra Highway just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

UPDATE (2:45 p.m.): The fire, said to have grown to five acres in size, has been contained will all forward progress stopped, according to official post an from the L.A. County Fire Department.

Just before 2 p.m. Sunday, a brush fire was reported to be one quarter acre in size and creeping uphill on the 17000 block of Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, according to officials.

“The fire is one quarter acre and there are no structures threatened,” said an official from the Los Angeles County Fire Department Command and Control. “We had units just arrive on scene.”

The fire is being called the Sierra Incident by L.A. County Fire Department officials.

Northbound lanes of Sierra Highway near Loma Vista are closed to traffic for an unknown duration, according to officials on scene.
