Around 11:15 a.m. Thursday, firefighters received reports of a structure fire at the Pitchess Detention Center in the 29300 block of The Old Road in Castaic, said Franklin Lopez, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
UPDATE: The smoke was from a mattress that caught fire, according to Fire officials.
“Nothing was showing from the two-story high security prison,” Lopez said.
