UPDATE (1 p.m.): The Dulce Fire has now reached 10 acres in size, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Winds in the area are currently blowing from the west at approximately 5 mph, prompting a, “slow to moderate rate of spread,” officials said.

Additionally, structures were reported to be in the path of the blaze, roughly a quarter mile away, prompting units to be deployed for structure protection.

Original Post: At around 12:12 p.m. Sunday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a brush fire off the southbound 14 Freeway, south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, according to Ed Pickett, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Dubbed the Dulce Fire, the blaze burned four acres of land in less than 30 minutes, as the fire moved uphill in a northwest direction in, “light to medium fuels,” according to officials.

While no structures were reportedly threatened by the Dulce Fire, officials say that the blaze did have the potential to reach 20 acres in size.

“That’s the report they give just to say in case this fire does go all the way, that’s how large it can get,” Pickett said.

A SIG-Alert was issued for the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound 14 Freeway for an unknown duration as a result of the blaze.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the Dulce Fire.
