UPDATE (8:45 a.m.): Knockdown has been officially declared for the Valencia apartment fire, but two apartments have been damaged in the blaze, according to officials.

“It looks like there was fire in two apartments,” said Austin Bennett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The American Red Cross has been requested to help the occupants of the damaged apartments, Bennett added.

UPDATE (8:30 a.m.): Due to road closures, Santa Clarita Transit officials are deviating local routes along Valencia, Rockwell, McBean, and Orchard. Stops on McBean between Orchard and Valencia reportedly cannot be serviced at this time.

Original Story: On Wednesday around 7 a.m., firefighters received reports of a structure fire at the Stonecreek Apartments at the 25000 block of McBean Parkway in Valencia, said Mike Pittman, a dispatch supervisor for the department.

“Units reported an attic fire in a three-story apartment building,” Pittman said.

At around 7:25 a.m. units requested additional equipment to help with gaining control of the blaze, according to fire officials.

As of 7:30 a.m. no injuries have been reported.

Officials are encouraging motorist to found alternate routes around the area due to road closures on McBean Parkway near the fire.

ED Note: This is a breaking news story, and KHTS will update when more information becomes available.

  1. Fact Check: StoneCreek Apartments not Stone Gate

Thoughts going to the families affected, always a sad thing to see.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
