A vehicle fire spread to the surrounding brush on the 14 Freeway in the Newhall Pass Sunday afternoon, prompting a response from firefighters, officials said.
Just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a vehicle fire was reported on the northbound 14 Freeway near the interchange with the 5 Freeway, and led to a very small brush fire, which was soon put out, according to Dispatch Supervisor Troy with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It didn’t go far, they put it out pretty quickly,” said Troy.
The fire was extinguished by 2:48 p.m., and a tow truck was called to remove the vehicle that started the initial incident, according to California Highway Patrol logs.
As of 3:00 p.m. Sunday, northbound traffic has been severly impacted by the incident.
