A big rig crashed about 100 feet off an embankment of the 5 Freeway in Castaic Friday evening, sending one to the hospital, officials said.

The crash was reported at about 6:00 p.m. Friday on the southbound 5 Freeway north of Castaic Road, according to Supervisor Art Marrujo with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
One person was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in unknown condition, according to Marrujo.
The driver was the only occupant of the truck, fire officials said.
The collision occurred near the 2000-foot level “crossover” of the 5 Freeway, where the two directions of the freeway split off going up to the Grapevine, according to CHP.
Southbound traffic on the 5 Freeway north of Castaic is impacted Friday evening, as crews clear the truck from the embankment.
