Canyon Country Man Dies In Colorado River Boat Crash Near Lake Havasu

A Canyon Country man died in a boat crash near Lake Havasu in July on the border of California and Arizona, officials said.

Shawn Corey Fasulkey, 40, of Canyon Country, died on July 31 in a boating crash on the Colorado River, with family and friends hosting a “celebration of life” in Agua Dulce.

On July 31, first responders were dispatched to the mouth of the Colorado River for a boat collision, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

“The reporting party stated that there were two boats that had collided and there were multiple victims still in the water with injuries,” Mohave County Sheriff’s officials said.

Upon deputies’ arrival by boat, a large debris field was located along with multiple other boats in the area. It was discovered that there were two adult male subjects that were unaccounted for in the water.

Those men were later identified as Jim Lee Dolson, 51 of Northridge, and Fasulkey, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The male subjects were quickly located and divers from Lake Havasu City Police Department pulled the male subjects from the water with severe injuries.

Both victims were pronounced deceased on scene, according to the MCSO.

The third male subject was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Over a month after the crash on Sept, 6, the third victim, identified as Sean Crow, 50 from Arletta, CA, died at an extended care facility in California, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation determined that a 42-foot MTI boat carrying 10 passengers and a 21-foot Eliminator boat carrying the three males were both traveling southbound on the Colorado River.

“For unknown reasons, the Eliminator turned into the port side of the MTI,” the Sheriff’s office said. “The MTI took evasive action to avoid, however, both boats collided.”

It is unknown at this time which of the three male subjects was the operator of the Eliminator at the time of the collision. The operator of the MTI submitted a blood sample and no signs of impairment were observed.

Toxicology results of the three male subjects on board the Eliminator are pending. This investigation is ongoing.
