A Castaic man has been identified as the victim of a Friday evening car crash on the 5 Freeway, according to officials.
Erwin Geremillo, 47, of Castaic, was killed in the crash on May 31, said Sarah Ardalani, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
On Friday evening, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway near Templin Highway in Castaic, said Michael Pittman, a dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Geremillo was declared dead on scene, Pittman said.

The driver who struck Geremillo fled the scene of the crash, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office.
The crash is now being investigated as a hit-and-run, according to CHP officials.
