A Newhall crash involving a fire hydrant Tuesday evening resulted in water bursting from the broken hydrant for over 30 minutes, officials said.
Around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters received reports of a traffic collision involving a fire hydrant near Tournament and Wiley Canyon Roads in Newhall, said Melanie Flores, a dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It was a non-injury crash,” Flores said.
As of 6:15 p.m. crews were still working to shut the water off to the broken hydrant, according to a witness on scene.
Valencia Water is responding to the scene, according to officials.

That’s a lot of water. The way that I figure it, is that @100psi normal, 4″ main which most fire hydrants are. 4,280 gallons per minute = 128,400 gallons. The water representative will underestimate that figure.
That area is Valencia. North of Lyons.
Maybe the hint is that is Valencia Water and not Newhall Water.
